WELCOME to the Office for Parish Leadership Engagement. Guided by the Holy Spirit, we walk with our pastors, principals, and parish leaders and help them to intentionally focus on the fundamental mission of the Church, evangelization. We do this by providing tools, resources, best practices, and coaching to support parish teams in their efforts to build a culture of conversion and discipleship.
A parish with a culture of conversion and discipleship is a place where people feel a profound sense of welcome and belonging and are accompanied along their faith journey. Parishes and schools are places that help people encounter Jesus Christ, deepen their relationship with him, and are challenged to grow into well-formed intentional disciples. In turn, intentional disciples are sent to help transform the world in which they live and work.
Many people interpret evangelization in different ways. Archbishop Paul S. Coakley and the Secretariat for Evangelization and Catechesis of the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City have come to describe evangelization in this way:
Evangelization is a way of life. It is recognizing and sharing one’s experience of how Jesus transformed his/her life and giving witness to the Gospel — who Jesus was, what he did for us, and who he is in our lives today — to help another person come to their own encounter with Jesus.
Each person is called to share the Good News of Jesus with others. Disciples witness to Christ by their lives—in word and in deed. Our staff is dedicated to providing tools, resources, and support for parishes, schools, families, and individuals as they live out the call to evangelize and build a culture of conversion and discipleship.
