Installation of Acololytes

On Nov. 17 at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Archbishop Paul S. Coakley installed 11 men as acolytes. The ministry of acolyte is the final liturgical institution of men prior to ordination to the permanent diaconate. An acolyte installed on the path to ordination helps the deacon and priest in setting up the altar, is an ordinary minister of Holy Communion and can purify the sacred vessels used at Mass for the consecration and distribution of Holy Communion.
